Mold Shop Equipment & Quality Control

The machines, the metrology and the paperwork behind every tool and every production run.

Inside the workshop

CNC machining of a steel mold cavity insert

Mold machining

Three CNC machining centres - one of them 5-axis - plus two EDMs (including a mirror EDM) and a wire-cut machine, so cavity-to-cavity tolerance is held in-house instead of being outsourced.

Injection molding machine during a trial run

Molding and trials

Eight injection machines from 60 to 650 tonnes cover small precision parts up to mid-size cosmetic housings, so trial and serial production run on the same equipment.

Metrology

A coordinate measuring machine, a vision measuring system and hardness and roughness instruments: measured numbers on the report instead of opinions.

Quality control through the build

Incoming material and steel

Steel grade and hardness are recorded against the tool drawing, and mill certificates for the materials we mold are filed with the project.

In-process machining checks

Critical dimensions are measured while the inserts are still on the machine, so a problem is found while it can still be corrected in the same setup.

Tool trial (T1) report

The first trial produces a documented report: parameters, part weight, cycle time, photographs and the list of corrections agreed with you.

First article inspection (FAI)

Samples are measured against the drawing on the CMM and the vision system, with a dimensional report marked against the tolerances.

Release and production control

After approval the process parameters are locked and samples retained; any change is release-controlled. PPAP documentation can be prepared on request.

Where AI changes the workflow

AI-assisted DFM

The 3D model is checked automatically for wall thickness, draft, undercuts and gate position, so a feasibility report reaches you together with the quotation.

Flow simulation before steel is cut

Fill, packing and cooling are simulated first. Every correction made on screen is a correction that never happens in the tool.

Visual inspection in production

A vision model screens cosmetic defects – short shots, flash, scratches, sink marks – and flags the parts an operator should confirm.

Digital project board

Drawings, trial reports and inspection records live in one place, so you can see the status of a tool without asking for an update.

Frequently asked questions

Can we visit the workshop or arrange an audit?

Yes, a visit can be arranged. Because most of our customers are overseas, we can also send sample parts and inspection records first, so you know what to expect before you travel.

Which documents come with a tool?

Tool drawings and 3D data, the trial report, a first article inspection report with dimensional layout, and material certificates for production parts. PPAP documentation can be agreed per project.

Do you inspect every production batch?

Routine checks run through the shift on the key dimensions, with a full layout at first article, after any tool change, and at intervals agreed with you.

How is the tool kept in condition after delivery?

A maintenance schedule is set from the molding volume and the material. Wear items such as ejector pins, springs and cooling connectors are inspected at planned intervals, and we supply replacements.
